Bob, Not sure what program he used but we have done similar effects with
Adobe After Effects.

Friends, A good friend just sent me this u-tube of a Santa Fe HO layout
that has signaling, 70's diesels belching black smoke, lots of good
weathering plus good scenery. I must believe that the sounds are
dubbed-in however--just a little too realistic to be some sound decoder
but could possibily be underlayout speakers! Also it might be possible
to add the diesel exhaust--just not that familiar with video editing
capabilities. Anyway the overall effect couldn't be better.
