S friends,
I wasn't able to do anything Friday evening this past weekend. I had an
assignment as part of the Final Four involving a bunch of college
coaches, so I crashed after that. However, Saturday evening I get out
my airbrush and starting painting my two UP Geep 30's. I decided to try
Star Brand paints for the first time. So I've done all the Harbor Mist
gray colors. I'll wait a few days then see how the paint holds up to
masking tape for the second color, Armour Yellow. There is nothing
worse than having the tape pull off random areas of paint. Overall I've
had pretty good luck tempered with a few failures.
After checking out the color scheme using some downloaded photos, I
realized that part of the deck is raised to the point where it needs to
be painted in the yellow color. Problem is that the handrail stanctions
need to remain in the gray. Masking that off with tape is way too
difficult, so I'm going to try a product called Maskoid, I think. It's
a thick paste-like product that protects an area so you can paint around
it. Have any of you used it or something like that. I haven't used it
since photo school in 1971, so I was amazed it was still around.
Finger's crossed.
