Mike, back in the last century American Models did have a label on their 
engine boxes that claimed they were made in America.  I would assume 
that it actually meant it was assembled here because I think all their 
motors were from Asia.  I also think most of the earlier freight cars 
were cast here.  At the Dearborn convention we saw a hopper car mold 
setting on a shelf.  That being said the people who actually had the 
injection molding were elsewhere.  I would bet the only S manufacturer 
to actually make their own plastic castings would be PBL in California 
besides the long ago Loco Workshops boxcar kits--what a relic!
