Magazine ads, as I stated just 3-4 days ago, do not reach enough S scalers
to matter when it comes to getting kit reservations. Since I started making
S models nearly 7 years ago, I have relied almost solely on Yahoo lists and
dealers to generate interest. Those resources are no longer supporting
future kits for all of the reasons stated earlier (attrition, economy, China
supply issues, etc.).
I will not extend the 2-month deadline on the SAL car. As Pieter commented,
this is the 3rd or 4th announcement for this car and NONE of them have
yielded sufficient reservation count to move forward or it would have been
"done" by now. 6/13/2011 is the cut off . 80 retail reservations or the
project is dead and will not revived for a 5th announcement.
In my experience, 90%+ of the eventual reservation count comes to me within
7 days from announcement. As of today, the 5th day, if 90% holds true, the
project is already dead but I gave a deadline of 6/13 and that's what I'll
honor.
