Smoky Mountain didn't have an ad because Jim King doesn't produce more kits
than he can sell, at least not any more, and most especially not in S scale.
His profit margin is sufficiently tight that advertising probably isn't a
consideration. Yes, everything is covered: as Tom Hawley noted, every form of
S scale
ever produced is given equal weight, with correct scale (and I am not talking
about P/64) hiding in the corner, lost among all the clunky toy trains. No
inducement
whatever for the scale modelers who read RMC to take S scale seriously.

For all the money Jim Kindraka spent on a display ad for the USRA 0-6-0, one
would have thought there would have been more attention paid to brass imports,
which
are hardly mentioned (I think perhaps ONCE). I could not recall whether I had
seen this George Riley posting on the list--the only name attached to any part
of the copy--
but I think I am hearing no one seems to know who he is. Hardly appropriate to
showcase S scale with someone who is not a prominent practitioner.
