Rusty,
Interesting that you should mention Joe Visintine. I recall someone who a few
years ago produced GM&O decals. That must have been Joe. As I stated I
purchased some GM&O decals from Jerry Glow. They are great except for one
problem which probably I shouldn't even notice: The "G" in the reporting marks
is wrong. Actually, Perma=Bilt silc-screened the car with the correct paint
and letter "G," but the lack of rivet detail tempts me to take off the old
paint and lettering, the repaint, and perhaps get the decals from Joe if he
still has any.
The car I refer to was built about 1948 and had an 80,000 lb ld limit, odd for
a steel car. From prototype photos I notice that these cars had a nine-rung
ladder. Now that is odd for a car with an IH of 10' 0". I also have a CJ&E
car with the green sides and orange lettering from Perma-Bilt. Someone painted
the roof and ends before I got it, or I would have a dickens of a time finding
a paint match these days.
Then I have the sides and part of wood framing--bottom and ends--for a CB&Q
Perma-Bilt car. Also have just sides for a KCs and ACL cara as well as
aluminum painted sides for a GN express car. As I recall, the number of the
prototype was 2500, but the car had some high-speed trucks for which nothing
close exists in S. More later. Modifying these cars takes me forever since I
am still working and have to prepare school lessons, but summer's a-comin!
Tom
