Are you familiar with a paper pulp mill on the east coast of Tasmania?
It has offshore loading for ships. My company (The Austin Co) designed and
built it some years ago.
I built a model of it. Learned a lot.

You can build all those NZ S Scale locos.
Was there with the U S Marines in 1943. Rode everything I could. Love those
locos.

Subject: {S-Scale List} New member from Australia

  Hi everyone,

my name is Steve Omant, life-long resident of Hobart, Tasmania, a very small
island State off the South coast of the Australian mainland, about as far
down-under as you can go !! (latitude 42 degrees South)

Also a life-long model railroader, after nearly 50 years I have just
purchased my first S Scale items. I have worked in most of the indoor scales
(and outdoor), my first impressions of S scale are very positive. I like the
size of the models, not too big, not too small.

There is very little S scale in my part of the world. Although I do see some
Sn3.5 in local magazines, to me it is a mysterious but interesting scale and I
look forward to getting involved.

  best regards from Oz
  Steve
