All,

It was a leap of faith when I put my RDC shells in my blast booth and let it
rip. I did have some apprehension about it. My blast booth does one thing
and one thing only - very well - find good clean brass. There is nothing
subtle about it. There is no finesse. All paint surrenders to the blast
booth.

I thought I took photos of my RDC when I blasted it, but I did not. I just
started right in on them and painted. The blast actually removed some of the
chrome, but mostly made it a nice flat finish. If you have felt a blasted
brass model "it is smooth but it is not". You just have to see it. I am sure
there is some microscopic mountain range surface thing going on, but the
paint just loves that stuff. A little time in the oven and the paint melts
out smooth as glass.

It was my opinion that I would forever be touching up the silver over the
chrome. I don't think there is any paint that will stick to chrome (or
nickel plating) very long. I am almost positive it was chrome though. That
is why I took the plunge and did the blast and Alclad paint. Further, I
think the Alclad stainless paint looks really perfect especially when
compared to the original paint on the RDC.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
