I don't know with absolute certainty, but I believe the RDC was nickel plated,
not chroime plated. Although I'm not an expert on the difference. I do know
that when we did the E8/9 models (RRM) the version for AT&SF and CB&Q was
definitely nickel plated, not chrome. My "Warbonnet" AT&SF E unit would attest
to the fact that paint sticks to nickel plating just fine!!
