There are a few people on my PRSLHS email list that saw these hoppers back in the day. They were gray for sure. I just emailed a friend that was a M O W supervisor on the Mighty PRR to ask when the switch was from gray to yellow. I have an inkling that it was *just* after my period of interest. I have confirmed 7 road numbers for these hoppers from negatives I bought from John Hall taken by his father. They were is a scrap line in 1960. Based on those that saw the hoppers in service I am sure not all of them had the false bottoms installed.
