Last week, Linda and I did our annual baseball trip, short this year,
Frederick, Hagerstown, Altoona and State College, all minor league teams, seats
for 11 or less all seat right behind the 3rd base dugout, a soda was 3 bucks,
as in the majors they are 7.

Anyway, on the way up to Altoona we stopped at Big Pool, right below Hancock,
MD (no association with John) as Big Pool was a natural depression used by the
C&O Canal.

Also at Big Pool is Fort Frederick, a reproduction life size of a fort built
here in 1756.

They had a little museum and they had a little bit on the W MD RR, as the W MD
RR had a line right along the canal in Big Pool.

It had a bit about the C&O and B&O being called the alphabet RR’s, as when they
ended their names, that was the end of the alphabet line’s, as the connection
to the W MD RR was they all became one in time.

Also, in Hagerstown at City Park is a RR display of some real W MD RR items.
It was closed at the time we got there, but we could see a very nice looking
WMD steam engine, as two men where working on it. It is a Pacific. They have
lots of Cabooses, not sure about other cars, looks like a station museum too.
I am sure there is a website for this if you Google Hagerstown Railroad Museum
or something like that.
