I have brass universal balls with ears that are for use in the Ajin
built redirves that were used on the S Scale FT's, some of the other F units,
the redrive units, and the GE 44 tonner. The balls are 3 mm in diameter with a
1.5 mm hole bored through the center. The ears on the balls are 0.035 in
diameter and 0.065 inch long. They are not a press fit, they need to be
soldered to each end of the jack shaft that is used between the motor out put
shaft and the gearbox input shaft. The original balls that Ajn used are made of
plastic and have a tendency to split and/or slip. I tried using super glue to
repair the ones on my FT's but found that in time they let go anyway. It is no
fun dissambleing a painted model to redo a repair so I developed these to solve
that problem. Some of the Ajin models already have their version of a brass
ball which is one of their plastic ones that they cast in brass. I'm not fond
of them since they have parts lines showing. Each drive used a total of 4
balls. My brass universal balls are $8 for a set of 4 and that includes
shipping. If you are interested contact me offline.
