Well... it's a dandy of a railroad, that's what it is. Caters to all the
things I find interesting about the railroads of my youth:

* A variety of 1st Generation power.
* Can have an urban setting. (Which I am exploiting this time around.)
* Can run through mountains. (Ozarks and Ouachitas... which I exploited last
time around.)
* Is having some serious financial problems. (Which means I can model junky
looking stuff if I want to.)
* And the most important factor for S scale: I CONTROL its equipment
choices.

The fictional history of the KC&G puts it essentially at its namesake
places. Mainline runs from KC to New Orleans and onto the gulf. There IS a
subdivision that runs to Dallas, but I forgot where the junction was
"supposed" to be. (Guess I need to reread the fictional history I wrote
about it, huh?) It was theorized to be the competition to that OTHER KC
railroad, the Kansas City Southern. BUT... since the KC&G was a
johnny-come-lately, it had to take a more tedious route to the gulf, hence
the mountain sub I modeled last time around. (The KCS got the preferred,
and less strenuous, route to the gulf.)

Anyway... the KC&G will likely be my safety net... BUT... I am such a sucker
for select KC area railroads of the 50's and 60's... the Frisco foremost,
then (in no order) the Mop, CB&Q, CRIP, ATSF, Wabash, CGW, et al. The
beauty to me of my KC lines theme, is that any/all can be seen on the
layout, as it was in actuality. I already have the CB&Q represented, and am
seriously considering the Mop... with more to come "eventually".

Perfect for a modeler (like me) that enjoys variety of power and paint.
