About a year ago I acquired, at a train show, a brass scale tender – a NYC long
one, on which the box had handwritten, L3/L4 tender. Apparently it is a brass
import by Omnicon Models of a NYC Mohawk steam locomotive tender, although
there were no other markings on the box except the handwritten. The tender
appears to never have been used, and to be unaltered.

I have tried to open up the tender – without success. There are 6 tiny bolts
on the underside which I have removed, but the underside does not come free.
Not sure why. I cannot find any other bolts. Does anyone know any
secrets about doing this?

Also, the tender has a small electrical plug (female)with two conductors. I
can (strangely) read continuity from one pin to the other, but not to the
tender wheels or chassis. There is a backup light which I wondered if the
plug was for, but when I put some volts DC to the pins, the light does not
light up, so the connector must not be for that (or a bad bulb). Does anyone
know what that plug would be for? Interestingly, I don't see any other
electrical connections – like for engine power, etc…

Any ideas or info about any of this would be greatly appreciated. ( I have
already run this by Ed Loizeaux and he has helped me some - thanks again Ed!!).
