Wow you guys are really dedicated.  And that is good.

Not being picky, what they had worked for me, as I have many kits from G C 
Glaser, Bar Mills, BTS and yes, Plasticville on the layout, allot of it 
painted, as it looks great painted.  Many have no clue my barn is Plasticville.

It's not the materials that are "old school." In the current discussion 
context, the phrase is being used so the reader does not expect an LVM kit to 
be a laser-cut structure.

Simply put, an LVM kit will require more modeling effort than a laser kit to 
build, just like in the olden days. Hence "old school."

And, I do not advocate one as being better than the other. Both types of kits 
will yield satifactory results.
