The discussion about brakewheels and the reference to the Walther's list raises
a question. It appears that more than one company makes HO scale brakewheels.
It is also true that in S we have very few brakewheel types available. Does
anyone out there know whether perhaps some of the HO brakewheels are oversized.
If so, they might well be used for freight cars in S that require a brakewheel
different from that included in the kit.

The reference to kits might seem a bit out of place with the current lack of
production due to what has occurred in China. Like many others, I have a
modest stash of PRS and two or so AM box cars. Anyway, does a modeler out there
have some thoughts. On the other hand, I am not at all informed about the
inventory on O-scale brakewheels and the hope that some might be too small for
O.

As everyone
has pointed out, you're pretty much limited to freight car parts, which
really aren't suitable.
I don't believe there is a common locomotive
brakewheel offered among any S scale detail parts, kind of a major
omission. The SHS switcher sprues do have a mini version used in the EMD
SW cabs.
Possibly, the full-sized ones used on the AM SD-60 might
be obtainable. I've been looking for something usable, without
success.
