And to echo Butch's penultimate paragraph, it it weren't for most of those 
manufacturers, my tangential interest in S scale would have remained 
tangential.  BTS should be added
to the list (still waiting for a good week or two to build my Ma&Pa 2-8-0 kit).
And I did dig into my pocket to buy a GPM C&NW 4-6-0, painful as the sticker 
shock was...
