I disagree that all barns are crude structures. Many get that way from 
negligence. I can remember barns in Wisconsin that were always kept painted and 
looked good. Most Wisconsin barns did not have 1 x 12's, but 1 x 4's for 
siding. Most Wisconsin barns were painted red with white trim. I realize that 
barns look different in other parts of the country. Most barns that are being 
used today in Wisconsin are well kept.

  A barn is a pretty crude structure and most were just built to suit the site 
so I'd just give her a pile of balsa wood sticks and tell her to embrace her 
inner architect. or to make it even cheaper just cut up cardboard into 1 by 12 
planks and start gluing. Then when it's done whitewash it ...DaveBranum
