I seem to have [unintentionally] touched a raw nerve--and didn't stop to think
that
Bill Wade does indeed cut his own wood components, as I think the only BTS kit
I've bought was a 2-8-0
(nothing wrong with his structures, just that they aren't prototypes I can use
readily). What I WAS
thinking of was a recent example of a good-quality caboose kit through the
Supply Car, the kind of kit
that I would (and have) bought.

If the brass import does ultimately materialize, I shall consider it carefully,
since although I would have
preferred the kit, if that is not an option there is no point in regretting its
absence. Sadly, QC produced
only a few S scale versions of their kits (I have one of the N&W peak-end
hoppers and am glad to have it).
They didn't even offer all of their HO scale kits in O scale--notably the NYC
#19000 caboose and O&W milk
car.
