There pictures of an S scale PRR K-28 I built, in photos, under A F Hudson.I
like to build. One of the reasons I got out of S scale was the lack of steam
locomotive drivers.
As for frames, I have found out they can be fabricated from styrene and, now
don't laugh, 1/16 aircraft plywood. I had Bill Wade laser cut some parts for an
O scale, 4-4-0 frame. After assembling it with CA glue, I soaked it in CA glue.
It came out as hard as steel. 3/32 would work for larger locomotives,...like an
Erie Triplex :<)
Detail parts are easy to make from styrene, and after you get the hang of it,
almost anything can be made from this material. 38 cal. and 45 cal. lead rope
is used for weighting.
NorthYard, in NZ, has 51 in. drivers, in case somebody wants to build a
switcher.
All take care,
John Bell
