In general, the answer is no. most narrow gauge cars are lower, shorter and 
more narrow than standard gauge cars.

There are the following exceptions:

Most arrow gauge cars you would find in model form are similar in size to 
standard gauge cars of around 1870. However, they have more modern details and 
construction than cars of that time period.

Some cars, mostly tank cars and some steel flat cars, were converted from 
standard gauge to narrow. In the case of the tank cars, the main change was 
narrowing the running boards, so these cars can be converted back to standard 
gauge relatively easily. These are the ULTX and "GRAMPS" tank cars that ran on 
D&RGW lines.

East Broad Top RR regularly transferred standard gauge cars to narrow gauge 
trucks at it's interchange and transferred them back back for the return trip.
