Ok, thanks to AB, got a SD60 in the mail yesterday.
Out of the box, I thought, what a beautiful paint job. Crisp, clear lettering,
nice paint job, although perhaps a bit "thick".
I loved the weight of it...much like the former Atlas 2 rail O stuff, very
heavy.
I thought it amusing that in the back is a bare screw, the couplers swing thru
huge slots even on a scale unit and the handrail stanchions are huge. All that
can be overcome.
I did notice that the bottom of the truck (covers) are quite deep, rather out
of the ordinary.
When I ran it on DC, it faltered some but did seem to find its feet shortly.
All in all, I think it pushed me further into S scale and more willing to get
rid of the remaining 2 rail O.
I have one other SD60 coming...then both go to the shop for a complete DCC w/
Tsunami, golden white leds, toplight, whatever else I can think of.
I do wonder if anyone's tried to "body mount" the KD? Look like a heck of a
chore.
I'm hoping Ron Sebastion's SD45 will make up some of these obvious deficencies
when they're released...hopefully before I hit 100
