Tom, I didn't have a problem about your comment as you did contact Lionel, but
there are numerous incidents of speculation about a product without checking.
That includes other manufacturers not just Lionel.
If you want to encourage them to build scale models, you need to talk to them
directly and try to direct them in the right direction in a positive manner..
The new items in Flyer did not appear by coincidence. When K Line produced the
O gauge but near S scale Big B oy, a number of Flyer guys started a discussion
with them about making it in S. When Lionel took over K Line, they started
talking to Lionel about it, usually in person a York. One of the things they
had to overcome were the negative comments on the S Trains group about ever
effort the had made to produce more Flyer. Granted many of these item left
much to be desired but at least they were trying. They just took a long time
to learn what the market wanted The Big Boy also had problems, but the new
Challengers are pretty much what the Flyer guys wanted..
It may take a while to convince them about what you want and that there is
really a market for it. You have to keep talking to them.
