I think it's a great idea! A powered speeder in S scale? Yes! Rich Yoder offered one in "O" several years back that used a powered trailing car to push the speeder. Looked great running around on club layouts at shows!!! Always got a lot of oohs and aaahs whenever it was running.
It was pretty tight squeezing everything in, in O scale, so I imagine you'll have some challenging times ahead.
