Brooks,

Thanks, as I did check out the MRC system that Ed K emailed me in private.

Complete system from Amazon is 262 before adding any books and I have no
problem with that. What is weird the same MRC system at Micromark is 492.
And it is the same system.

I have the Lenz system and I emailed them about wireless as I did not see
anything on their website about wireless. Hopefully they do have something,
but it not, so be it. Not the first time I had to change things completely on
the layout.

Again, Brooks, thanks for the reply and tips, it is greatly appreciated.

I will let you know what I do. It wont be until January, as I am having a
knee replacement done next week to go along with the vision. LOL Yikes.

Mike

Mike,

All the major manufacturers of DCC systems (Northcoast Engineering, Easy DCC,
Digitrax and others) all now offer wireless systems in which the hand held
cab/controller communicates with the 'base station/command center' via a radio
signal. As you note, it leaves the operator free to walk along with his/her
train. It also permits two folks to pass each other walking around the layout
without getting tangled in the cords. Even after wireless is installed, it's a
good idea to leave some 'plugs' in place around the layout fascia for
emergencies (like dead batteries) and some of the systems recommend doing
programming with the cab/throttle tethered. I've been using wireless Northcoast
on my layout for 8 years and it's wonderful. Brooks
