Bob and all,
Brooks has great advice, there are many good resources available but perhaps
the best resource is to operate on a few layouts and find what you like. Your
operation can be as simple as send a train out with six cars and have it work
every industry with the goal of having six different cars at the end to a 14
day rotation of all your cars and industries. The more complex, the more of a
challenge to get it set up but some folks like that part of the hobby just like
some people want an electronic wonder or the finest scale detail. Look for the
balance you enjoy after all, it is your railroad.
Operating adds another neat dimension to the hobby and it comes with no strings
attached...... Sorry, couldn't resist.
