Well, after another 22 hours of drive-time, my wife and I returned home from St Louis late Monday night. What did we find?.......snow on the ground (not a surprise), trees and limbs down all around, and the entire area out of power since Saturday evening ! As I write this, there is still no power for several miles around, with minor exceptions. Luckily for us, a year ago we installed a permanent stand-by generator system which kicked in as soon as the power went out. Without it, we'd have found a fridge and freezer full of spoiled food, and melt-water from them all over the floors. Exactly the reason we made the decision to invest in this.....I highly recommend it to all! We're the only house in the entire area with full power these past 3 days.
Anyway.......S-Fest content: we displayed, on loan from Lionel, a production-run Challenger, and a pre-production NoPac U33, and they drew a LOT of attention and scrutiny. Maybe I missed it, but so far I have seen no comments on the list from anyone, with their reactions to these engines (the Challengers are shipping to distributors and dealers now). With all of the comments and sight-unseen criticisms that have been posted over the past several weeks, I'd really like to see reactions from those who actually saw them last week. My impression was that most everyone was very positive about them both, and saw excellent potential in modifying the U33 by the "scale crowd". Anyone care to chime in here?
