Actually the whole NASG thang is irrelevant to most modelers so it don't
matter what it's called, in fact we probably should distance ourselves as far
as possible from it. If we want more modelers we gotta promote the scale and
the product not the organization or the American Flyer roots. HO and N scalers
don't worry about that kind of crap they just model in their scales. An HO
modeler who is interested in changing is gonna be interested in the
availability of S scale equipment not in any ties to S roots or S toy trains.
Of course we need standards but we don't need an NASG or NASS to create them,
all other gauges get along just fine with NMRA standards. I still maintain that
S scale can compete based on the merits of it's size and that's what needs to
be promoted, more models in the mainstream press, and efforts to get major
players interested in doing something in S scale.We'll know we've arrived when
Atlas, Athearn, or MTH jumps on the S bandwagon....Dave Branum
