Bob:

Another solution might be to shorten the center springs to reflect the 
shallower depth of the center spring mounts. The way to do this would be to cut 
a piece of brass tubing that the spring would telescope into the correct length 
and use a Dremel cut-off wheel in a drill press to shorten the affected springs.

This is just a suggestion, since I am unfamiliar with the FM Trainmaster 
suspension other than your description of it
