Alex,
Yes. I usually remove the paint from the wheels using my trusty Dremel and
wire brush attachment shortly after it cures. However this set of painted
wheels sat for a few days and the wire brush failed to remove the paint from
the flange area.
I'm sure there are other options but the O-rings seem like a quick fix for
modelers like me that let projects sit...and sit....etc.
