Last week, I painted the SHABBONA RR plug door boxcars with my version of
Boxcar Red and put them in service on the railroad. However, they are not
lettered yet and in looking at them, I am thinking of painting the roofs and
ends (well, the roofs, anyway) black.
I have been heavily influenced by the small Rock Island fleet of C.I.R.X. plug
door boxcars, which were yellow with black ends and roofs. Reporting marks on
the SHABBONA cars will be "SHRB", ala' Santa Fe's SFRB fleet of these cars.
I hope to have at least one Rock Island C.I.R.X. car spotted for loading at The
Humongous Company on occasion. Details on the movement of rolling stock on the
railroad beginning to take shape. More later -
