That's the typical end of the Ace bolster.  The flash was not removed from the 
sample in the picture before it was painted.

I really like how the Ace trucks ride even though they are not the best or 
sharpest detailed trucks.  Historically the springs have had just about the 
right resistance so that they're not too stiff and not too bouncy.  Also the 
side frames are thinner than most that you see which is a bit more to the 
protype.
