I haven't run into an inserts, so I can't comment on that. I do have the
Trains release and I must have never looked up anything that affected. In
my case that would probably just an inconvenience, since I usually look at
the actual number on the "printed" page, not the number in the program. The
only unusually thing was that the early MR issues were numbered continuously
within a year. The program does use those numbers.

It works good enough for my purposes, plus it will allow to free up a number
of file cabinet drawers for other stuff.

Subject: {S-Scale List} A new MR Digital Archive DVD question

Hi Ed and Dave,

One of the complaints about the similar archive of Trains magazine Kalmbach
released earlier was that in the scanning process, any advertising or
subscription inserts in the magazine were scanned as well, which gave them
page numbers that they did not have in the original printed issue. This
threw off the page numbering sequence for the whole issue, making the search
function somewhat inaccurate when you tried to look something up. Is this
the same case with the Model Railroader Archive as well, or did the scanning
company correct that mistake with this release? It's beginning to sound like
Kalmbach has made sure that there is no way to move even one issue at a time
to a tablet or laptop for viewing away from the base computer, which
severely cripples the usefulness of this archive in my mind. And, having the
professional version of Adobe Acrobat won't usually allow you to copy or
modify an existing PDF file unless it was set up by the original author to
allow it.
