Hi Alex;

I suspect most newer flat cars are of very different design. Most seem to have
straight side sills, for example, and most are longer at around 60ft.

I happened to look at the Dec. 1983 RMC today, it includes drawings for both
the Eire 53 ft 7o ton flatcar (ca 1940) and a late 1960s Thrall flat car built
for ATSF. The riveted cars may have lasted into the 1980's or a little longer
in work service.
