Earl, I had just started my waffle side when I had to put it up for some reason or another. I did study the instruction and everything to my eye looked feasible for a moderately experienced builder to complete. Any problem with decals would be many times worse if they would have been dry transfers that we were discussing last week. I once owned two DRG&W SD-40-2's, that came on-board painted and lettered. If your familiar with the lettering--it's the entire side of the engine. Applying decals would be simple except there are numerous latches and other protruding do-dads that would mess them up. The solution this painter used was to unsolder all of them, paint and then letter the engine. After that he reapplied the brass parts with cement or glue of some kind. So it's entirely possible with the differences in depth, two sets for the Southern car might be necessary. Something to look forward to! One additional item, the kit is supplied with a standard Grandt AB brake system while the instructions talk about a more modern system and it's being unavailable. I do have a modern brake system that I purchased from DesPlains. At this moment I can't recall the manufacturer--perhaps Ron can point to that.
