Elevators for the 70's? Wow that really depends, there were still the small
town elevators, some larger COOPs and then the transfer elevators where grain
goes from rail to barge or ship. Heck around here, the 40 foot boxcar was
still critical for hauling grain well into the 70's. But for the common
Country elevator, the American Model Builders Elevator is still a gem if you
can find one. They show an HO one on their website that is not the same as the
kit I build in the 80's maybe. There was a great article in MR about
kitbashing an elevator in HO that shows some good variation. Sorry i don't
have an extra to offer. Jeff Saine and I are going to be building grain
terminals for rail to water transfer. Nothing out of the box works but it
should be doable.

I do have a number of photos of country elevators around the midwest and a nice
book of elevators I picked up a couple years ago. Would be glad to help out if
I have images that would help you but I think if you can get a kit off
someone's shelf to start with, you would be in good shape.
