I've added those to models
that didn't have them- leave the support brackets in place. It's the major
spotting feature for a converted car.
Early conversions had all
ladders shortened, with the brakewheel lowered.
This was soon
simplified, in most cases. The high mounted brakewheels were left in
place, with both tall ladders remaining at the corner of the car nearest
the brakewheel. At this corner, the L shaped handgrab from the small
lateral running board was usually remounted directly on the roof.
