Early morning so Friday night is short. This was a good week, Monday evening
was spent on the Burlington installing another custom curved turnout. Still
have the frogs to put in but it allowed Steve to get the arrival and departure
tracks laid. He has to cross a bridge and extend this lead into an industrial
area and beyond so it will keep him out of trouble for a while. One more curve
to create, really must just roll the rail into a smooth curve using the Fast
Tracks rail roller and then start building to fit the space.
This put me onto a tight schedule for the NMRA clinic on Thursday but it went
well, the Division meeting had over 40 people there and over 20 built the kit
project. We used a Lake Jct. tool house. It is a nice little kit and useful
for so many more things than just a tool house. We also made the cement pad
Paul Scoles wrote about in the January RMC. Seemed to work well so I am going
to try it on the layout. I was happy to see the Pines and Prairies S Scale
Workshop was well represented. I didn't see much of the thread about S and the
NMRA a few weeks ago. We don't seem to have much a problem with the locals
respecting S because we are there and they cannot help but appreciate our
modeling. I don't care the NMRA has no track gauge, it would be redundant to
what the clearing house sells so what's the deal? On the other hand if it is
not your thing, fine.
Just made a list of what needs to be done on the Minnesota Heartland before I
can step back from the layout and finish some other projects I want to do. I
put new light fixtures in the back layout room and that is really nice. I will
move my work space back there which will be more efficient and allow me to
finish the Pine River area. Darn inconvienent that I have to spend a week in
Mexico keeping an eye on my little brother, sipping cool adult drinks and
watching for malfunctioning swimsuits when I could be here in frigid Minnesota
doing constructive work on the Railroad.
Anyway, I gotta get away from this computer. Nothing gets done while I am at
this keyboard.
