The Nov 1977 issue of MR has a picture of Reg's loco as "Model of the Month
Award".

I don't know what issue it was but I'm pretty sure Reg's loco was pictured on
a "Model of the Month" page in MR.

I don't know anything about Reg Bilodeau, but I will comment on the
locomotive he built. It was made by the Filer Stowell company of Milwaukee, WI.
They made sawmill machinery and some stationary steam engines. They also made a
few steam locomotives for the logging industry. What is different about the
Filer Stowell locomotives is that they have no crossheads. The cylinder pivots
up and down. There is a short article and plans for the locomotove in the May
1976 Model Railroader. If Reg entered the locomotive in the 50th anniversary
contest, it did not win a prize. I have the MR disks and searched the Jan 1984
issue. I found pictures of winners from the model contest, but mno Reg. There
was also an article in "The Home Machinest" or some such magazine that someone
built a live steam version of this loco. About 20 years ago, I read an article
in the Milwaukee paper that the Filer & Stowell building was to be torn down.
The article stated that all of the wood patterns were in the building and could
be had by anyone who would haul them away. The article said there was about 3
semi trailer loads of patterns.

At our last club meeting we were thumbing through some old Model
Railroaders. In the November 1977 issue I came across a scratchbuilt Filer and
Stillwell 0-6-0 logging locomotive built by Reg Bilodeau in S of course. Any
one know him? Is he still around? The name sounds French. Canadian, eh? I
remember MR running plans for this locomotive in S, but I would have put it at
a later date. I also seem to remember the locomotive showing up in MR's 50th
anniversary contest. Of course Reg could have entered it. Could there be two of
these? When was MR's 50th anniversary issue? Everything beyond the November
issue is trusting my now antique memory. Anyone?
