Bob, You created a good-looking car. I don't think any CGW fan could quarrel with the tone of maroon paint because when various CGW cars came forth from the Oelwein paint shop after rebuilding or reconditioning or just repainting, they differed markedly from one another. Most CGW authorities on paint advance the theory that the CGW purchased its maroon or purple paint from the lowest bidder at a given time. Hence, the varrying tones of maroon.
I do disagree with the fonts that make the reporting marks. Although sometimes the CGW switched its fons, as in the case of the covered hoppers built in 1949, it normally preferred extended railroad roman fonts. Walthers once made a fine set for CGW maroon box cars in HO and O. Other than that the car looks great, and the font issue probably falls under the 4-foot rule. So no big deal!
