Saturday the O&S West meet resulted in a new acquisition for me. One SP
AC-12 Cab-forward. The middle watch crew went right to work taking the weights
out of the tender and boiler. There was 12 oz. in the tender and 21 oz. in the
boiler, all of them were soldered in when built. I spent about an hour
disassembling the model and removing the weights. A new, normal looking,
boiler weight will be made that contains a speaker. It will be held in the
boiler with screws, and not soldered. The Soundtraxx module will eventually be
installed in the boiler. This is after I rip off the running boards and
replace them with correct ones. The plastic gear boxes will also become brass
gearboxes. Photos are in the Cab Forward album.
