Jim and Tom, In the MHRY west folder I posted a photo of the Hutch local from
1953. It is taken right after leaving the Depot in Minneapolis at a spot
referred to as "Hole in the Wall"
Also to you point about old maps, I have many maps that were created by the
railroads themselves, these are great to find things in the cities here.
Outstate, it is a bit more of a problem, here in Minnesota, the University has
a huge aerial map library online that I can access. Generally there are some
maps from the 30's more from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
I am using the concept of "hole in the wall" as part of my railroad. It will
provide access from hidden trackage to the layout, bringing interchange
transfers into the operation.
Yesterday, I repaired a couple of turnouts that needed to be fixed and juiced
all of the frogs in Centralsota. Boy is that neat, I can crawl through every
inch of the trackwork, nary a burble over any part of the turnouts. These are
all controlled by Caboose Hobby ground throws so now I have absolute power
routing.
