The Sperry Rail Service ran Doodlebugs in their rail detector service at least
up the year 2000. This link has pictures from 1931 so there is quite a spread
of years and they ran on railroads normally not thought of for Doodlebugs.

So if you want to get one even though your favorite railroad didn't run them,
here is a solid reason to have one. They're bright yellow, the wife will think
its cute and it can throw a real monkey wrench into your operating sessions. :)
