That is a lot of drivers to figure out how to convert or replace with scale
ones.

When the dust finally settles and Don Thompson is able to look at new
production, perhapshe is already thinking about the fishbelly twin hoppers that
Sanda Kan cancelled on him, andthat with alternative peak ends, those should be
pretty close to the N&W distinctive/characteristic ones. They were so ubiquitous
off-line that even I would be in the market for one or two.

If Ron is alluding to or has outright said Lionel is coming out with a Y3 I
have mixed feelings about it. The Y6b is my favorite non-PRR loco that I do not
have. It has stuck with me since my HO days with the Riverossi unit. I have
been campaigning for it with River Raisin for about 5 years+ now and would
likely be my last major brass purchase. If Lionel comes out with a Y it will be
about ½ to ¾ the price of the full brass loco & not as detailed. Such
decisions… But we will now need a tom of peaked end N&W hoppers to go behind
it. Yes the Y3 was sold to the PRR and was gone well before my era of interest.
The PRR was apparently not a fan of articulated locos as they were gone by the
early 40s (I think) The regular popular classes run in great numbers until the
end of steam. Bill Lane
