I am no longer anti-Lionel because they have made a real financial commitment to S with some really quality models. Most are not what I want but I recognize these new models will bring more people into S. But some criticisms are valid regardless of whether you are a scaler or a high railer, and the ugly swinging pilot is one of them. I am hoping Lionel will not repeat this on the SD70s, again a model I do not want, but one that will make a splash with a lot of guys. . . . . Those of us who criticize Lionel (or other manufacturers) are usually pulling for the manufacturer to make it right so it will sell and make S gauge more attractive to new and existing modelers. - Earl Henry In a message dated 3/2/2012 10:32:18 P.M. But honestly, it is exactly what I expected from a toy train maker that doesn't give a !#!%!&! about modelers. > They are a toy train manufacturer and have been for a long time so it makes sense that they build for the guys who they know will spend the money. So the pivoting pilots don't work as a scale loco ,that don't mean their freight cars won't be usable cause if they follow their O practice they will be very nice pieces. A new set of trucks or wheels sets and some Kd's and they should make a fine model. I really don't care if the big road diesels are scale or highrail as they are too big and take too long a train and too much space to look realistic running no matter how scale the loco might be but if they make money and cause lionel to build more freight cars I'm all for them. Being anti Lionel is not thinking very far ahead if you really want more S scale equipment to be produced....DaveBranum
