John, you certainly have a right to express your opinions. But I sure
wish you would keep them more positive about S scale and not promote HO on this
forum that is intended to be for us S folks.

By the way, I hope to meet you at the Savannah RPM. I will be there to
represent S scale though possibly without any models.

Alan, come back and let me know in about 10 or 15 years (at best) how well
that is working for you and the aging AF support base for S scale. Even
Lionel will... no, SHOULD be able to get the picture by then that they
should have been ALSO offering (as SHS does in S and Atlas does in O) a scale
OPTION or VARIATION for/of their models... because what good it is going to
be to have "NEW American flyer" when those who buy it are no longer with
us!? And for the record, that "10-15 years" estimate came straight from the
mouth of one of S scale's current manufacturers... NOT from my own
determinings. So CLEARLY I am not the only one in touch with what is
happening
right under your noses... that coffee that you people can't smell.

An OPTION is all I'm asking for here, people... an OPTION for scale
appearance. If SHS and Atlas can do it, the so can Lionel. Yes, I know
Lionel
is a toy train company, but they want to stay in business in the future...
don't they? Or do they?

People, pull your heads out of the mud... I am NOT "Anti-Lionel"... I am
just PRO SURVIVAL OF S SCALE. And "New american Flyer" is NOT going to draw
in new modelers from other scales no matter what it is a model of or no
matter what paint scheme you slap on it no sooner than taking a ROCK out of
the ditch in your front yard and painting it in a CSX, NS, BNSF, or some
other modern scheme and marketing it! Sure, AF guys LOVE it and swear by
it... but they are not the future OR the survival of S.

And slapping a set of scale wheels on that ROCK *along with the pretty,
modern paint schemes) is not going to make me or ANY scale modeler more
inclined to buy it.

( Better yet, instead of a ROCK, let's use a BRICK... since dricks do
vaguely resemble the general shape of a modern loco or freight car... kinda...
sorta... if you shut your right eye and look at it only with your left
eye... )

Jim King dropped O scale production because he found out something that
Lionel is apparently NOT capable of seeing... that O scale, like S scale, is
dieing out (determined by decreasing sales)... and this is due to a problem
that S scale also has - the VAST majority of it's support base is OVER the
age of 70... and in many cases, WELL over! So tell me who Lionel is gonna
sell it's :NEW American Flyer" to, and it's 3-rail O scaleto, to once you
guys are no longer with us? And this doesn't even address the issue of the
limited incomes these folks have.

Oh well... once this inevitable train comes into the station, my meager
investment in S scale will just serve (in 10-15 years) the purpose of funding
the purchase of new models in HO, so I digress.

Enjoy your toy. I'm going out to my garage to build one of the HO scale
MODELs I just bought...
