I think I know where Bill was coming from. Through the years, the best sellers to the HO folks have been such as Athearn Blue Box kits, Tyco train sets, etc. The quest for perfection, thanks to those kind folks in the Far East, has driven HO towards more fidelity in the models. Likewise for S and I for one applaud it. However, there is still a large segment of all scales who truly don't give a rat's behind about how many rivets and weld joints there are on their models and I applaud them, too. There's room in our dying hobby for both.
Discussions like this are like reading the tabloid press. Lots of todo about nothing, but lots of fun to read.
