I'm back to working on my old American project that's been on hiatus for the
last three years.... Hopefully I'll have some "real" progress to report soon.
In the mean time, I'm wondering how many of the folks on this list would be
interested in having a working model of a late 1800's American (4-4-0)? I'm
starting with a die-cast toy frame, using scale wheels, can motor, NWSL gears,
etc. The details need to be altered from the toy appearance. The starting
place is a "Mason" looking engine, but Baldwin, Grant, Brooks, PRR (Altoona),
and other engines of similar appearance could be made. I must note that this
will NOT end up being a "scale model" of any particular engine. In fact, I'm
making one "serious" compromise. The boiler is a bit too large in diameter.
Other than that, the appearance is good. So I don't want to hear any comments
from the rivet counters, nor will I consider Flyer or Tinplate wheels. I'm
considering this to be a "good enough" project. Once I get a couple up and
running, I will likely share what was done so YOU can make your own following
my methods. Unless you really want to pay me a ton of cash....
