Since this is
apparently the same prototype done by Atlas, here's information from their
website:
American Car and Foundry built the first of several
Center Flow design, cylindrical covered hopper cars in 1961, and Atlas has
chosen one of these for its ready-to-run model, an early 3,510 cubic-foot,
70-ton plate B clearance car. Many of the more than 4,000 cars of this
type built through 1966 can still be seen in service today across the
United States. They are commonly used for chemicals, plastics and similar
products.
They're modern enough to be retro- a link to a similar
