Bob, (I really think we need to have a pecking order for all the Bobs on
this list, there must be 20-30 of us); anyway a great looking engine. I
love the roof torpedo tanks. I started on a pair of UP GP-9's (one a B
unit aka Larry Jackman kit), so I certainly would be interested in the
Archer thread pattern results. I also like your coupler pocket--is that
scratch? I stopped work on it a couple of years ago. I need to pick up
that project again but I've been looking for a suitable snowplow. I had
purchased one of the Sunset ones many years ago and waited for them to
magically appear again. I think I have a couple of Overland units that
I can modify.
I will mention that I also used the BTS pilot steps on both of my
engines and found that I needed to use an extra long shank coupler as
the two engines kiss too many times on my curves.

After all of the discussion about what manufacturer's should or
shouldn't offer this weekend, it's a good time to divert the
conversation to what we've all been up to. So here's an update on my
GP-7 conversion from an AM GP-9 using the DPH long and short hoods:

I've moved onto the handrails using DPH's early GP stanchions. They're
beautiful castings, though a little fragile. After seeing Bud
Rindfleisch's post on the Archer s scale treadplate decals, I decided
to add them as well. So, I'll do that before completing the handrails.
I did note, however, that the stanchion holes don't line up with the
AM handrail holes, so new ones have to be drilled at a higher
location. It's relatively easy to fill the old holes with .035 styrene
rod and sand it smooth. I'll post some photos of the treadplate after
I apply the Archer transfers.
What have you all been up to? let's post some photos.
